Designer : Matthew Adams DolanInspiration:A mixed show where chic elegance is blended with sportswear, the American style is brought up to date by this young designer who shows at New York Fashion Week for a second time. Collection: distorted basics with a play on volumes, XXL sleeves are worn with high-waisted jeans. Tailored checked trousers combine tones of blue and pink, with a tightened waist and rounded off sleeves. The men and women don’t stop responding to each other, having almost interchangeable clothing. To note: mohair which used for cable stitch jumpers and cardigans. Interview with Matthew Adams Dolan: I’m really interested in things like the idea of clothing being an object rather than being something that is specific to one gender. I was looking at ideas of volume that felt controlled rather than just oversized, looking at tailoring techniques, shaping, seam shaping, that kind of thing. So I was looking at sportswear references so taking those colours and translating them into something that was a bit less evident. Obviously there’s a lot of more established brands that have left due to just to scheduling and sales, that kind of thing. It’s only my second show so I don’t have a lot of experience.Music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information).
